Effective tips to get clients for your business


I get it. You’re tired. You’ve just put in a full day of work on a project you love, but you still haven’t gotten paid for that week’s worth of work, and the bills are piling up. Even though you’re eager to grow your business, finding new clients can feel like a chore  and one that never seems to actually pay off with new revenue coming in. That said, if you want your business to continue growing and thrive, it’s vital that you keep finding new clients. So how do you find clients without sacrificing your sanity (or spending all your hard-earned money on advertising)? After eight years of running my own company (and making lots of mistakes along the way), I’ve discovered some effective tips to get clients for your business without breaking your back or emptying out your bank account in the process!

Get out of the office and network.

Networking is an important part of your business, and it’s also a fun way to meet people. You can get clients by meeting people at conferences or events in your industry, or by going out into the community and meeting new people who are potential clients. If you use social media like Twitter, LinkedIn, or Facebook to build a strong network of contacts that includes potential clients and then reach out directly to them you will have a much better chance at getting business than if you don’t network at all.

Start a blog and write about your expertise.

You can also use your blog to reach out to potential clients. Before you start writing, it’s important to think about what problem you want to solve for your readers. Do they have a problem that needs solving? Are there questions they need answering? Try and figure out if there’s even anyone who will read your blog. If nobody is looking for it, why would they return once they’ve read one post?

Once you’ve figured out what kind of content is going on in your head and heart, write something! Be sure that whatever it is has an impactful message; people will be more likely to share something if it means something to them personally. After writing the post and publishing it online (make sure you choose a platform that suits your type of business), promote it on social media platforms like Facebook or Twitter by sharing links with friends and family members so they can see what others are saying about their company too! You might also want some way where readers can contact directly through email or phone number so as soon as someone finds out about how helpful this information really was then no need worrying anymore because now all i needed was knowledge 🙂

Create great content that showcases your expertise.

  • Make sure it’s shareable, unique, helpful and educational.

Connect with journalists and influencers in your industry.

  • Find journalists and influencers you admire.
  • Reach out to them to see if they would be interested in working with you or your company.
  • Ask them to write about you or your business, social media promotion on their platforms and to share your content on their platforms and/or connect with people that might be interested in it by referring them back to you as a resource (and vice versa).

Create a referral program for your business.

When you are starting out, you want to make it as easy as possible for people to refer. For example, if you run a digital marketing agency and someone wants to sign up for your services, they might be skeptical at first because they don’t know how good your company is.

What can you do?

You can offer them an incentive for referring their friends like: “If I get referrals from 3 of your friends, I’ll give you free consulting” or “For every $1000 in new business that comes through my door from one of your referrals, I’ll send each of them $200”. This way when someone refers a friend the sale is already done so there’s no risk involved.

Build a community around your business.

Communities are a great way to get clients, because they allow you to connect with people who share your interests.

For example, if you’re selling pet supplies, you could start a community for dog owners that meets once a month at the park. Or maybe there’s already an existing group of people sharing their stories about how much their pets mean to them you could join this group as well as create one of your own for those who don’t already belong to it.

If there isn’t an existing community out there that meets these needs yet (or even if there is), it may seem like starting from scratch will be too hard or time consuming but building relationships with others isn’t just about meeting up face-to-face eventually; it’s also about finding ways people can get together cheaply and easily over time without having physical contact every single day.”

Offer to provide testimonials for companies you admire or have worked with.

  • Be specific about what you can do for them. Don’t say, “I’ll tell everyone I know about your company.” You need to be more specific than that. For example, if you have a large email list, offer to send an announcement or special discount code to them; if you have a lot of social media followers and they need help with their content strategy on Facebook or Twitter, offer to provide some assistance with that; etc.
  • Be specific about what you want in return. If someone has offered up their services as an unpaid testimonial because they believe so strongly in a product or service and want others to try it too and this is awesome! you still need to make sure there’s something concrete for both parties involved at the end of the day (and by concrete we mean money).

It is better to be proactive than reactive. You can’t just sit back and wait for things to happen. You need to take action!


It’s important to remember that building a business takes time and effort. Finding clients for your business is no different. In fact, it can be even more difficult because you may have to get out of your comfort zone and go out there to seek new opportunities. That said, if you’re willing to put in the work, then these tips will help you find clients and grow your business over time.
