Huawei P20 Review: A great smartphone with an improved camera and a great design finish.
Given the beautiful design concept of the recent P20 and the AI-enhanced flash camera system, pause to test it. After thorough testing of the larger and more expensive twins on the Huawei P20 Pro, the initial assessment was almost accurate.

The Huawei P20 ($ 800) is a cheap sibling of the Huawei P20 Pro, an excellent device that can compete with flagship models such as the Samsung Galaxy S9. Like the P20 Pro, it looks like a similar Kirin 970 chipset. However, compared to its siblings, the display is smaller and the camera is less effective.
The Huawei P20 is a great phone that is free in itself, but the increase from the P10 isn’t that great, so it’s a really attractive purchase. This is especially true if the Huawei P20 Pro includes all the features you need, but not in the small device specifications. Sure, the Huawei P20 lacks many of the Huawei P20 Pro’s signature features, yet it promises an attractive combination of performance and cost in a small package.

Huawei P20 Price and Stock Status
In the UK and Australia, the Huawei P20 has dropped to around £ 400 in the UK since it was released for £ 999 at £ 999 without a SIM. I’ve seen it for less than £ 700 in Australia, but it’s getting harder and harder to get.
Based on the price, it competes with the LG V30 and is significantly cheaper than the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Google Pixel 2 XL. The Mate 10 Pro, on the other hand, is the same size, a little bigger and stronger, so you need to think about it.
Huawei P20 Review: Design
Like the P20 Pro, the P20’s body is made of metal with pearl paint and a mirror cover. However, in addition to Huawei’s signature purple and blue variations of Twilight, there are sparkling metallic and pink gold variations with a mother-of-pearl soap bubble texture, as well as more traditional blue and black models.
The Huawei logo and the weird debris that the manufacturer will provide (logo, model number, etc.) are printed in landscape mode, which looks like the Leica label and camera details. This gives the back a typical sideways camera look, and the camera on the right replaces the look machine. Only the Sony style hardware trigger switch was perfect for being on the left side. However, the volume key can be used as a toggle controller.
At the bottom of the device is the home button or fingerprint reader. I don’t know why Huawei doesn’t have a rear sensor like the Mate 10 Pro. This may have completely removed the bottom bevel.
The P20 Pro, like most modern high-end smartphones, doesn’t have a 3.5mm headset socket. On the other hand, the USB-C port can be used with the included connector. Alternatively, you can use a bud that supports USB-C or a wireless version. Unfortunately, these SIMs cannot be replaced with microSD cards.
There’s a perfect balance between the small device and the 5.8-inch phablet, and the thin bezel and notch prevent it from looking heavy by hand.
The P20’s 5.8-inch LCD display panel has an aspect ratio of 18.7: 9, a resolution of 2,244 * 1,080 pixels, and a total display panel of 13.14 square inches, the same as the Huawei P20 Pro’s 6.1-inch screen panel. The visual experience of the Huawei P20 screen is undoubtedly great, but the lack of an OLED display doesn’t allow it to offer the high levels of contrast that the P20 Pro handset has.
Before it’s all done, the P20 notch is probably not the most annoying thing we’ve come across. Huawei also included a system that essentially eliminates notches by filling the entire screen with black from all sides. Therefore, if you need more viewing space or a more consistent look, you may not be able to make the choice you expect because it comes with this device. This phone persuaded us to change our mind about Notch. All I needed was the ability to put in and out the notch before finding out which one I liked. No matter which method you choose, you always have a choice.
The P20’s display can be customized in several ways, including changing “natural tones” that change color depending on the environment. Switch between standard and vibrant colors. Choose a hot or cold default color scheme. Turn on the eye relief function and so on. You can adjust the brightness from “crazy crazy” to “very bright”
Huawei P20 Review: Camera
You can imagine the Huawei P20 as a smartphone for photography. This is the most important collaboration between Huawei and camera giant Leica. The Huawei P20 Pro, on the other hand, has a triple camera setup, but the P20 has only two on the back and one on the front.
On the back of the Huawei P20 is a 12 + 20MP dual camera with low light capabilities that take advantage of long intervals and image stabilization to take better night photos. Like many Huawei dual camera models, Bayer lenses are for color (12MP, f / 1.4) and monochromatic cameras are for reflection (20MP, f / 1.6).

This is the same chipset as the Mate 10 and P20 Pro series. You can use 4GB of RAM (6GB on the P20 Pro). This is more than enough for most tasks, but there is some delay in streaming and recording HD video. Performance is good, but it can’t be compared regularly with the Apple iPhone X or Samsung Galaxy S9.
The P20 is used as often as juggling apps, but is considered a very easy-to-use device. It got a little hot, but that’s it. In the test, with three average Geekbench 4 scores, the single-core result was 1,885 and the multi-core output was 6,681.
Huawei P20 Review: Last Word
The Huawei P20 isn’t the Huawei P10 we wanted, and it’s not suitable for the Monica P20 either. There are some clear moments, such as a stunning display, excellent results, long battery life, and its amazing camera, but the Huawei P20 Pro is better than the P20 anyway.
The Huawei P20 is comparable to its older brother Huawei P20 Pro in terms of image processing and efficiency. There is no irreversible 5x zoom or Pro, but it effectively simulates many of the camera’s effects. You can use the 2x zoom to get closer to the subject while maintaining sharpness. If you don’t like spending cash on your P20 Pro or Mate 20 Pro and don’t want to worry about the availability of a larger mobile phone reader for the rest of your life, the P20 is your device. You definitely need to buy it for you and give it a chance.
